NEW HIRES - FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Those requiring a move are entitled to one house-hunting trip not to exceed five days/four nights at the conference expense (per policy, following usual and customary reimbursement rates). The conference will also assist with your relocation, according to our Moving Policy. When you receive these policies from HR, please be sure to read them carefully so you are aware of the coverages as well as any limitations. Please KEEP ALL RECEIPTS for your house-hunting and moving costs and follow HR’s instructions for submitting the eligible expenses for reimbursement. For questions regarding moving or house-hunting, please contact Claudienne at claudienne.presentacion@floridaconference.com or Melida at melida.gaviria@floridaconference.com. If you anticipate needing duplicate housing assistance or temporary housing, you will also need to contact one of these representatives from HR.
Your Educational Employment Agreement (contract) will be available after you have completed all of the hiring steps and the onboarding process is final. Sometime after that, you will receive an email with instructions on signing and submitting your contract. Until then, the Job Offer Letter that you electronically signed when you were hired is a legal document and indicates your gross monthly income, which can be used for house-hunting purposes. It is a legal document that indicates your position with the Conference and your gross monthly income.
The educational employment contract year runs from July 1 through June 30. Teachers are on a 10-month employment plan, which means they will report to their schools from August 1 through May 31. The report dates for Principals, administrators, or others on a 12-month employment plan are the same as the contract year, July 1, through June 30 of each year.
The Florida Conference processes payroll once a month on the 27th or the business day prior if the 27th falls on the weekend or a holiday. The salary for 10-month employees is spread over the entire 12-month employment contract year – because we are sure you wouldn’t want to go without pay for the summer months! The first paycheck in this contract year for all employees is July 27, and the final paycheck is June 27 of the following calendar year.
Florida Conference regular office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and closed on Fridays.
